Reports to: Production Baker/Food manager on duty

Type: Part-Time, 15-20 hours/week

Full-Time, 30-40 hours/week

Compensation: $15.00/hr + Commensurate with experience

Purpose: The Kitchen Assistant is  essential to the daily operation of BOH. KA  areresponsible for maintaining a safe, clean, welcoming, and well-appointed environment for staffand customers. KA  supports exceptional standards of service by assisting BOH staff complete tasks in a timely fashion and clearly communicate details to FOH staff relevant to ingredients,  processes, inventory, and order status  The position suits reliable, positive, and detail-oriented team players who are fulfilled by helping the collective excel and serving their community.


Kitchen Assistant $15 - $17/hr
1 year kitchen experience required / 1 year barista experience

Requirements

18 years 

Reliable transportation

Weekend availability  (including pre-holiday weekdays)

Ability to work early-mornings / evenings / overnights

Lift 50 lbs

Stand for 8 hours

Essential Functions

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head Baker and Production Baker in producing high-quality pastries and savory food items using a variety of techniques and ingredients and all other areas of production following posted HACCP and SOP's

Ensure safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are always met

Pay attention to detail and consistently produce visually appealing pastries and food items

Follow recipes accurately and scale ingredients as needed

Efficiently manage production schedules and meet deadlines

 Perform repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and forearms to operate espresso / coffee machinery

* Taste/Smell – ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee

* Talk/hear – frequently communicates with customers

Demonstrate competency in techniques such as measuring, weighing, mixing and plating.


Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of various baking techniques, terms and ingredients

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions and recipes accurately

Demonstrated excellence in time management and organizational skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced/occasionally stressful environment

Ability to work early mornings/evening/overnights

Passion for creating delicious and visually appealing food

Responsibilities

Strong time management skills to meet production goals

Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work on feet for long periods of time
