Title: Porter
Reports to: Food manager on duty
Type: Part-Time, 15-20 hours/week
Compensation: $12.75/hr (age 16-17) — $15.00/hr (18+)
Purpose: Porters are essential to the daily operation of Brewing Good Coffee Co. Porters are
responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, welcoming, and well-appointed environment for staff
and customers. Porters support exceptional standards of service by helping FOH and BOH
staff complete tasks. The position suits reliable, positive, and detail-oriented team players who
are fulfilled by helping the collective excel and serving their community.
Responsibilities:
• Health, Safety, and Hygiene
• Follow shop HAACP plan
• Comply with shop allergen protocol
• Collect dirty dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils (from bus tubs, customers, etc.)
• Condense food inventory trays as items sell
• Wash dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils
• Return clean dishes and utensils to their stations and maintain a clear sink
• Remove waste and clean surfaces (tables, counters, floors, walls, seating, equipment, etc.)
in work, storage, bathroom, and customer areas as needed and at the end of each shift
• Check/sort patio garbage and compost bins throughout and at the end of each shift
• Ensure recycling is sorted properly throughout and at the end of each shift
• Assist in the receipt and prompt and proper storage of deliveries
• Assist coworkers in opening and closing duties, as applicable
• Report any workplace accidents, hygiene-related incidents, or maintenance issues
• Service
• Keep coffee bar, kitchen, and bathrooms stocked with supplies
• Fill ice bin as needed
• Exchange kegs of seltzer water and cold brew as needed
• Stock inventory (pastry case, retail shelves, etc.) and ensure signs are visible
• Assist cashier and kitchen in fulfilling food orders
• Assist barista in drink preparation
• Run food/drinks to customers as needed
• Undertake any other duties of a similar nature related to this post that may be required from
time-to-time
Requirements:
• Education: enrolled in an accredited high school program, a high school diploma or GED
equivalent
• Experience: previous employment experience, especially in a foodservice environment, is
preferred, but not required
• Qualifications: no formal qualifications are required, though a Porter must be confident and
proficient in using the tools necessary to fulfill their duties
• Reliable transportation
• Availability: open availability, including weekday and weekend mornings and afternoons
• Physical Requirements:
• Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene
• Read, write, count, and understand instructions
• Lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move 25-pound objects frequently
• Stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning
• Climb, bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
• Work under variable temperatures and noise levels

• No outside materials (video games, books, homework, etc.) while on shift (except on
breaks)
